  1. Hmmmm. kind of a wild and crazy development.

Pretty smart move by the republicans - who generally like to screw things up- especially in the Land of McCain.

So now she will be positioned as an incumbent running in 2020 when the dems try for another seat.

Quite smart for white guys to come up with a plan like that. Probably John Kyl just couldnt wait to go home. No doubt DC is even nastier than he remembered now.

Republicans are always getting seats against the will of the people

After years of being begged by democrats to run for office Gabby Gifford's astronaut husband is likely running for the seat.Navy Captain,Astronaut and loving husband who faithfully stood by his wife after being disabled for life after being shot. He will likely be a very strong candidate.

If Melania was shot in the head I wonder if Trump would be there for her the way Capt Kelly was for his wife

It’s sad that we all know the answer to that.

  7. I'm not so sure. She was a weak candidate who ran a typical republican consultant-advised race, talking endlessly about being a pilot. If she does manage to hang into the seat, we will have another McCain/Flake to deal with.

  8. I already accept the fact that Arizona has gone to the left so we are just talking about another rino or a democrat the next time she is up for a vote, which I think is 2020, the end of mccains term or something. At a certain point those rinos versus a dem are at least useful to help create a majority in the senate for committee control/majority leadership etc.

Very much ditto for Susan Collins. The republicans huff and puff for decades about how they are going to primary her and put a conservative in. Has never happened and never will. It will only result in the election of a democrat. Same was true for Olympia Snowe before she left. Like Haley's Comet that comes around once every 70 years or so, the rinos are actually useful as with Collins on the Kavanaugh issue.

  9. I don't follow it closely but I didn't realize that. I thought it was more like SC, conservative but controlled by big business country club republicans. SC should have some real hard right types but instead they put duds like that Scott guy into the Senate because they want to be insulated from the thing they dread the most, being accused of racism.
