Manchin climate stance threatens to shatter infrastructure bargain But Manchin’s infrastructure bill, including billions of dollars in new money for West Virginia’s needs — such as the Appalachian Development Highway System — has passed the Senate and he’s still not signing on to the climate investments that are a key demand of progressive Democrats. His staunch opposition to a $150 billion clean electricity plan that was supposed to be the backbone of Biden’s transition to clean energy puts what was supposed to be a grand bargain between moderate and progressive Democrats in danger. Without Manchin, Democratic leaders likely won’t have the votes in the Senate to pass the $2 trillion to $3 trillion social spending package through reconciliation. But gutting the bill’s climate provisions risks Democrats losing the votes of progressives in the Senate for the reconciliation bill and in the House for the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package.
Good. We don't need to hand $3.5T to children to spend. The best outcome for everyone is if the entire Biden agenda falls flat on its face.
The problem with the leftist climate plan is, like everything else in leftist world, it is fantasy based, except for the taxes, fines and penalties which of course are the real goal. Solar on a large scale won't supply enough electricity and wind is laughable in any serious discussion. Of course the great new plan does nothing to address China, Russia and India in their major contributions to pollution. If these retards were serious we'd be in a full scale push towards nuclear. 52 nuke plants are being built worldwide, 2 of those in America. We're behind, as usual, in everything other than wokeness and that won't keep the lights on.
