Shooting at Jefferson Gun Outlet in Metairie kills three; two wounded
'Everybody's strapped in there,' customer says

Three people were shot dead Saturday afternoon at a gun store and firing range in Metairie, and two others were wounded.

Dozens of police officers from multiple jurisdictions converged on Jefferson Gun Outlet, 6719 Airline Drive, at about 3:30 p.m. Patrol cars and ambulances lined the highway.

"It appears a suspect shot two victims inside the location, then was engaged and shot outside the location by multiple other individuals," said Capt. Jason Rivarde, a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman. "The suspect is one of the deceased on scene."

The wounded victims were taken in stable condition to a hospital, Rivarde said.

Two shields, typically used to block the view of bodies, were set up in the parking lot. A person's motionless hand was visible at the edge, and a pistol with an extended magazine lay nearby on the ground. In a folding chair about 15 feet away sat a woman crying, "Josh, this is Momma. I love you."

A customer who was inside the building at the time of the shooting, and two people who arrived later and identified themselves as relatives of the victims, said the shooting started when two adult brothers arrived at the business. Something happened near the front door, attracting other patrons. One brother was shot dead, the other was taken away in an ambulance and other people were wounded, said these people, who refused to give their names.

The customer, who had been upstairs in a concealed-carry class, questioned the wisdom of starting a gunfight at a gun store. "Everybody's strapped in there," he said.

Jefferson Gun Outlet's website bills the business as "the premier firearms outlet for the Greater New Orleans Area." It has a 14-lane, 25-yard indoor firing range.

  2. Here4money with a great thread again! How does he do it anyway? And is he afraid of guns?

Facts not out but I am following this story. Says guy came into the gun shop with gun un holstered or loaded (which should not be done) and got into it with a store employee about it.Customers intervened and shoot out occurred.I am wondering if this is something that could have been deescalated if not for want to be hero 2nd Amendment Magatards.

Metairie/Jefferson Parish is a very racist New Orleans suburb full of racist republicans so I'm wondering if race was a factor.

I haven't been following, but hopefully there's video; because right now, it's 'he said, they said.' And he can't talk.

Hopefully and there should be.If the guy came into the range with a loaded un holstered gun that was stupid and wrong but I'm speculating Magatards overreacted.I am wondering why are they taking so long to identify those involved.Jefferson Parish Sheriffs Department is one of the most racist right wing police departments in The US.I think they are trying to put together a narrative favorable to the right wing 2A crowd.

Right. I'd think every gun store/range has cameras. If so, why the delay in releasing the video?

If seems unlikely that the guy intended to shoot up a gun range.

But I can imagine a 'hero' drawing down on him, or outright shooting him; causing the guy to respond in kind, before expiring.

    We'll see.

Thats what I'm thinking as well.I lived in Metairie years ago.Very racist right wing pro 2nd amendment city.If a want to be hero overreacted and shot a guy because he was unaware of gun store /gun range etiquette The Jefferson Parish Sheriffs Dept would probably try to protect the want to be hero, especially if the guy who came into the store with the un holstered gun was a minority and the want to be hero was white.
