“A malaria drug widely touted by President Trump for treating the new coronavirus showed no benefit in a large analysis of its use in U.S. veterans hospitals,” the AP reports.

“There were more deaths among those given hydroxychloroquine versus standard care, researchers reported.”

Trump’s been relatively quiet as regards hydroxychloroquine the last week. He was pushing hydroxychloroquine like a snake oil salesman...
Instead of entering areas in which he knows nothing about, which appears to encompass a wide range of topics, why doesn’t he just shut up and let those with actual knowledge run the show, and give his big mouth and big ego a rest. Playing politics like he is currently is despicable.

I want reporters to hammer him on this shit.

"In a time of desperation when every American is looking for a remedy to this pandemic, what is the progress status of the miracle cure hailed by the president Mr. Fauci (alternatively by you Mr. President)?"

Trump’s jumped into his buggy in the middle of the night, given the horse a couple of flicks with the reins and moved on to the next town.
He’s now marketing it as a hair tonic.

Trump tones down the hydroxychloroquine hype
His public statements regarding the drug have diminished significantly over the past week for reasons that remain unclear.

    My opinion below
Actually the reason is real clear -- everyday there is more and more evidence that hydroxychloroquine is not effective in treating COVID-19.

Politicians and media pundits should not be hyping an unproven drug as a "cure" Medical professionals should drive the treatment of their patients and studies of the effectiveness of a medicine in proper trials.

Trump's hyping of hydroxychloroquine probably caused more deaths from heart attacks than the number of people it "saved" from COVID-19.

Hydroxychloroquine has been shown to be safe and effective in the fight against CCP virus. There have been excellent results and any heart attacks were likely caused by other factors----certainly not the HCQ. I am putting the OP story down to fake news.
