A Republican congressional candidate fled her interview with a major election-forecasting group after being asked why she believed global warming was a hoax and whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States, according to a new report in The Washington Post.

In the Post, David Wasserman, the House editor at the Cook Political Report, detailed his strange encounter with the "frightening" and "fact-averse" Louisiana State Rep. Lenar Whitney.

Whitney, who is running for Louisiana's open sixth district, gained some prominence in June when she released a campaign video blasting global warming as a "hoax" and the press as "lamestream media." Wasserman said he pressed Whitney on the issue of climate change only to find her unable to answer his questions.

"But it’s not unreasonable to expect candidates to explain how they arrived at their positions, and when I pressed Whitney repeatedly for the source of her claim that the earth is getting colder, she froze and was unable to cite a single scientist, journal, or news source to back up her beliefs," he wrote.

Wasserman said he attempted to "change the subject" and ask whether she believed Obama was born in the United States. Her aides then ended the interview.

"When she replied that it was a matter of some controversy, her two campaign consultants quickly whisked her out of the room, accusing me of conducting a 'Palin-style interview,'" he continued. "It was the first time in hundreds of Cook Political Report meetings that a candidate has fled the room."

Good for the journalist! He should be asking tough questions to candidates that make questionable commentary. Now if they did it equally to candidates on both sides of the aisle, up to and including the President, THAT would be something to see.

She missed her chance to look at the journalist, laugh in his face on camera and fire back.... with all the problems and issues, domestic and foreign, facing our Nation today, your question to me concerns conspiracy theories? When you want to ask me a valid, pertinent question relating to the issues we face, get back with me."

    Turn and walk off camera.

  4. Regardless of developments... I still believe it's likely Odumbo was ineligible to be president either because of his birth place or the fact he may have given up US citizenship to accept free tuition money for schooling in Indonesia.

Why else would he have his records sealed and defend them so vigorously from public scrutiny? There is something BIG in his past he doesn't want Americans to know!! We've let him get away with that deception. We shouldn't have.

There's something wrong with his birth certificate and what kind of an utter fool believes that the state of connecticut actually issued him that ssn.

And just what scientist disputes that the US has actually been cooling since the 1930's when you look at the data that has not been manipulated by the global warming freaks?

How the hell does anyone expect this country to do anything but crash and burn if we can't even state the simple truths of these things.

Are there really people here that think that whether the president of the US is using phony documents is really a 'side issue'.

It's why i am no longer a republican, why i no longer vote, and i am no longer a patriot.

    Screw this country.

Any actions regarding his citizenry would have been done by his parents when he was a child, his mom was an American Citizen, for the most part grew up here... what compounded the problem was Hawaii's record keeping as it gained Statehood..... was every "i" dotted, "t" slashed, who knows? But again who cares? Obviously not enough here. The original intent of the Framers was to keep rich European/British Aristocracy from buying an election, there's been others who had questionable status.

If Hilary couldn't turn up the dirt during the primaries, I doubt it's there.I've always though he was trying to keep his writings out of the public view ..... Either way the DNC wouldn't have backed him if they thought it would blow up in their face. Regardless of his citizenship status, the American people elected him twice, the problem isn't the man.

But there's much much more important issues at hand.......

I'll just get one more thing off my chest here.

Don't forget that the people who expect you to accept without comment the Hawaii dept of health's word on things are the very same people who tell you that the federal gov't MUST have supremacy over the states because the states absolutely cannot be trusted. That blacks would probably face jim crow laws again if states were in charge.

    Yes, the same people.

    Total HOGWASH!

The DNC would have overlooked ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING if they thought their candidate would get elected... "if only certain info were kept from the public".

The problem IS the man. HIS CHARACTER... lack thereof.

  10. Non partisan Charlie Cook's bio:

Cook worked on Capitol Hill for then-Senator J. Bennett Johnston, Jr., a Democrat from Shreveport who served from 1972 to 1997. Cook also worked for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Policy Committee. In addition, he worked as a pollster and campaign consultant and on the staff of BUILD-PAC, the political action committee of the trade association, the National Association of Home Builders.[1]

What a surprise. A leftwing hack in media disguise.
