Looks like nothing will get done on immigration unless it's by EO

  1. Hate to see that.

However, Odumbo did a lot to get us into this mess on immigration... perhaps Trump can undo some of that. ??

    :(

    gwb-trading

And Obama did it primarily by EO.

  3. Yes. He said, "Congress isn't going to do what I want, so I'll do it with my pen and my phone".

With a split Congress there will be zero legislation passed on immigration, so I'm hoping Trump can use Odumbo's tactic... and let the SCOTUS sort it out.

  4. Could pick up speed soon- or not.

Trump has just asked the supreme court- again- to allow DACA to be heard by skipping the appeals court- which the court declined to do in the past- but the composition of the court keeps changing. When the court shoots daca down, and there is no replacement immigration law so that the daca "kids" are just hanging out there is when it starts getting animated. I put "kids" in quotes because half of them have already cranked out two or three american citizens themselves while here.

  5. The deporter-in-chief?

    Grow up child.

  6. The republican controlled House didn't do anything either about immigration. Thanks a ton, Paul Ryan.

Trump can still wreck the dems on immigration. Keep troops on the border stringing razor wire and building walls, end DACA and deport the ungrateful assholes, step up deportations, shut down all border asylum applications, charge sanctuary city mayors, etc with federal crimes, etc etc.

Trump is going to have to find the backbone to deal with a government shutdown. Dems will hold up funds for border control, ICE etc.

    Poindexter likes this.

I think the odds of getting immigration done is higher than ever.

The House has always been the problem. Build a useless wall, legalize some undocumented immigrants and the right wingers will fall in line. The right wingers are very malleable.

  8. The border thing is a loose cannon that can swing against dems at any time. We know that can happen to pubs, as with the separation of kids thing, but the dems will have their turn too. One caravan can/is/will easily beget another. Trump can do some aggressive things at the border but basically american law is against him and serves as welcome mat. It's going to get worse before it gets better, and it may never get better. There are several countries to the south that are basically abandoning ship because all the "improvements" the lefties made to their countries have made their countries dangerous and collapsed. The dems see them as pre-democrats.

2020 is the last shot at saving the republic - as a sovereign nation that controls its own borders.

Gonna be ugly the next couple years but its a fight that must be had.

  9. "Trump has signed roughly 4.27 executive orders in each month of his presidency through June 2018. His predecessor, Barack Obama, signed 276 executive orders in his eight years in office, or roughly 2.9 per month."

Trump had both House and Senate blowing Obama's GOP hated record away.

Donny will be quite the record breaker next year.
