Reliably producing 2% profit per month translates to 24% per year. 3% translates to 38% per year. 5% - to 70% per year. If e.g. you invest 10k USD in a system that returns 2% a month reliably - you'll be a millionaire in 20 years. If your system returns 5% a month - you'll be a millionaire in 10 years. Relatively small monthly profit numbers, when realized consistently, make for a great investment vehicle, better than many banks or retirement plans. The Mission My quest is to create such a system. A clear goal of creating a system that is capable of reliably delivering 2% returns per month on a crypto market. The secondary goal is then to upscale the system to 5% returns. Finally, when the system is successful, I am looking to take it a step further and make it a commercial product that would generate profit but also help other people achieve financial independence in one way or another. How? I am looking to create a think tank tasked with achieving the goal stated above. We take historical crypto data and use data analysis and modeling techniques to spot repeating patterns, devise trading strategies, model their performance, and test the models on live markets via dry-runs. We do this research in an informed way, leveraging existing domain experience and best practices. We'll meet up regularly (weekly or bi-weekly) to review progress and set objectives. Why? I value personal freedom and financial independence. I value those as a vehicle for self-realization, to enable a person to pursue what interests them rather than what they get paid for. I am looking for like-minded, talented people who would be willing to dedicate their time to make those values a reality. All of us have different areas we are skilled at, and I found it's quite hard to achieve those goals on your own: more often than not, you need more than one highly-developed skill to do so, which is rarely the case in a single person. The Profile I have a strong background in machine learning, data analysis, and software engineering, so I can do the research using historical pricing data in collaboration with a domain expert. I also have a background in project management and intrapreneurship, so I'll make sure the resulting team operates effectively and smoothly. I lack domain knowledge about trading and economics. Therefore, I am looking for a person with a stronger economic background. But, of course, I am willing to speak to anyone for whom the idea sounds appealing and who has something to contribute. Ideally, I am looking for people who value personal freedom and would like to create financial independence for themselves. Why crypto? First, it's volatile. Second, it has a huge potential to change how we live forever. It's not really about the money, it's about the new Internet in which ownership is a first-class citizen (here is a really good guide on the subject). Interested? Shoot me a message!
You need to do it with options b/c then you can limit your risk to your desire. I'm not a fan of crypto
Your approach hardly ever works long term because: trading methods based on the above are devoid of any trading logic (using statistics without understanding the probabilities of XYZ happening is not the wisest things to do in trading) ultimately it is the trader who makes the money and not the trading methodology people in such groups are usually the case of the blind leading the blind You’re much better of learning how the market works, then focus on certain patterns which works under specific market conditions (and learn to read those conditions in conjunction with using trading logic). Then on top of that, you’ll actually need to learn how to trade. Trading is a skill that cannot be learned through modelling. Once people have money on the line, they start being emotional and irrational, and it takes years to master this.
Why do all these programmers think they can crack the market? Who do you think you are, Jim Simons? I keep saying this over and over and over (like that Energizer Bunny on steroid): In order to make money in the market, what you need is a PROFITABLE STRATEGY (aka "edge"), not a bunch of codes! And no profitable trader in his or her right mind will ever share their strategy with an anonymous stranger who they happened to meet on a public forum. Plus, OP doesn't even mention anything about remuneration for the traders. So you want everything for free, eh? BTW it's worth knowing that a lot of programmers who congregated here over the years have since given up and went back to work as programmers. If they couldn't do it, I dunno why you think you're any different.
@schizo, you need to understand the programmers: for them the said two conditions are not XOR... Ie. both at he same time is very well possible, and makes much sense (automation), (wo)man!
This is a good way to waste a lot of time and effort. You are talking about profits and projects. Actual traders don't talk about that unless they are trash talking after too much weed and drinks. The real folks talk about nuts and bolts, details of being in the trench's day after day. They know markets change often but repeat. There are so so so many nuances and details. And so so so many tactics and strategies to blend together. It is like you are talking about how you are going to create a Michelin stared restaurant because you have eaten at one, but don't know anything about running a hot dog stand. If you are serious, learn some BASIC trading, some BASIC methods, some BASIC infrastructure, some BASIC risk management. Or go to work for some professionals. You can't manage your way into trading success without actual BASIC knowledge. You can't even discriminate between BS and skill and useful experience. You are talking complete BS, New internet, Citizenship, Econ and trading, ML, WFT? You can't buzz word your way into trading.
Good luck mate. Sounds like you yourself bring a lot to the table. If you can find the right team, you will have a worthwhile project. You may find that direct trading profits arent the only ones to be had.
