Hey folks, I'm making the switch from TOS to IB, however, the application process is leading onto 15 days now with little or no feedback... is this normal, what has been you're experience been while opening an account? Cheers!
Are you sending anything by mail? I know it is hard to get people on the phone now but if you can, do. Any kind of opening an account of some sort is a BIG PAIN, because we all might be money launders and terrorists. Like most things going on a BIG JOKE. If I was doing anything BIG TIME I would know how to circumvent the obvious. Unfortunately, once something is in place, like whatever the name is about terrorists and stuff, it will stay that way forever. I think Sir Issac Newton first came up with that - inertia. There should be an Island somewhere where we just trade and do not have to worry about fee fi i fo fum FYI - Anyone who reads this message - their IP address will now be monitored by the NSA - Richard Snowden.
I and my family had similar experience, though maybe not that long. If I remember correctly, it took a while (a few days) to transfer/deposit the money. The application approval process may also get stuck if some information is missing. You may want to actively follow up with IB to check why it takes so long or if any part of the application is incomplete. Or possibly you're already good to go and just missed the confirmation and further steps.
Hey folks, yes I noticed that the best way to get in contact with IB's customer service is via their online chat. Thankfully I received an email this morning saying that the application has been passed on for approval. I guess with CV19 going on in the world this application processes may have been temporarily slowed down, which is understandable. I'm looking forward to working with their API and doing some ML work
