    Good afternoon,

I am from Prague in Czech republic. I am looking for best location for my virtual server for trading stock from NASDAQ with Interactive Brokers. According this web: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/printthread.php?threadid=203101 Interactive Brokers has servers in Chicago and Greenwich. So my question is. Is it better use virtual server in Chicago because, IB recognize where is my virtual server, or is it better use server in London, because my everyone buy/sell order must go through IB servers in Greenwich?

Thank you and have a nice day.

  2. it does not matter where your virtual server is located at because IB is a broker that does not lend itself to higher frequency trading, so if your strategies are latency sensitive, even in the hundreds of millisecond realm then you should first change brokers before you think where you run your strategies from.

IB operations are in Greenwich, CT, USA (not Greenwich UK). So don't put your server in London!

As previous poster has mentioned, don't expect very low latency from IB gateway. Probably ~ 100ms is what you should expect. For that reason anywhere east-coast ish USA will be pretty much equivalent.

Thank you for your answer. I am going to trading strategii accordig EOD data with holding period 1 day. Last decision about trade is according open price due to I am looking for lowest time lags in data feed and execution of orders.

Prices virual servers are the same in NY and Prague. So it is better place server to the NY than Prague...

Do you have some tip on better broker than IB?

    Thank you.

  5. Guessing their nyc routing servers are at 60 Hudson. That being said, like CalVolibrator mentioned IB and HFT do not go hand in hand. Holding period doesn't mean much in regard to dependence on latency. Lime might be a reasonable solution..

IB have a gateway in Equinix NY4. Most exchanges, including cboe, are in this data center so cost is high. www.fcm360.com can offer a server in this datacenter for about $1k+$750 for cross connect, a month. If cost is an issue contact www.speedytradingservers.com about $170-$210 a month for dedicated, $80 a month for vps but they are in another New Jersey data centre 2ms from IB. Alternatively you can get a 2u rack in IB connecticut for $2k a month, raise a ticket at Ib and you will get the email address of the correct department at IB to contact.

  7. What do you attribute the delays to with IB? Is it a slow risk checking process?
