A Stocks daily ATR is $15. And let’s assume its ATR is very consistent(low coefficient of variation). What is the likelihood that from market open the stock moves up $15 from open price, without dropping to market open minus $5 throughout the day? No news, earnings or events that will affect the price of the stock.
%% SUPER small %; but on a good treNder like MSFT, AAPLE,AMZN, tech leaders..... split adjusted/ very good %%% its going up a lot more than that + has ............................................................ On a day's time seldom happens happens , once we get past open gap LOL; but that'$ why so few funds are planned with daytrades only NOT a stock tip /i do ETFs.
Do you think a reply based on opinion holds much weight or do you expect others to do the research for you?
If you're interested in the probability of price doing this or that the next day, take a look at Thomas Bulkowski's thepatternsite.com. Price action such as you describe is what he terms either a Long White Day or a White Marubozu. If these occur in an established uptrend, their probabilities are positive - they are both over 50% - but not much over.
Sounds like what I've nicknamed a "stacker" day. Thats where you could take todays bar, slide it to the left and it would literally "stack" above yesterday's bar. Seems to happen 3-5% of the time during non-catalyst periods.
I am actually looking to trade a ranging market(interested in ranging markets). ORB looks like momentum, trending or breakout strategy.
