Lightspeed doesn't pick up Tier SM stocks in new highs/lows ticker.

Has anyone noticed lightspeed software misses Tier SM stocks making new highs or new lows in the Ticker alert when you program the ticker alert for highs and lows? This seems to put the system at a disadvantage since you miss a whole group of stocks breaking out or breaking down.

Can you provide an example of a symbol where the alert did not work? If you have a live funded account, did you report the event to the service group?

You can watch the new highs and lows all day long and you won't see a Tier SM stock cross. At any point in time some of these stocks should be hitting highs or lows and showing up on the ticker alert. They just don't. Try for yourself.

There is a ticker alert, where you set up an alert when an event occurs. Then we have two scanners. Light Scan and Risers and Fallers. Light Scan looks for new highs and new lows and Risers and Fallers show stocks making the largest moves. If you are referring to the alerts, they work by symbol. If you are referring to Light Scan, the default is the S&P 500 stocks but live accounts can request all listed stocks. Does that help?

I was referring to the Ticker Alert which allows you to program stocks hitting highs and lows. You don't set up the ticker alert when an event occurs. The ticker alert picks up new highs and lows in all stocks (but leaves out Tier SM stocks for some reason). The light scan requires you to pick an imbalance status and often misses new highs and lows (especially if they are hitting multiple highs and lows in a successive pattern, which is most important because it would indicate a stock in a fast move either way). You will have to trust me on this one. I use the new highs and lows every single day and I know when there are prints missing. I have also confirmed this with people using other systems that do pick up these missing prints.

I obviously know the difference between theory and practice. I know there are traders and there are managers. A trader would understand exactly what I was talking about. A manager might not and a blogger certainly would not. Try trading more and posting less.

mktrdr-The settings are to cover NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX. I know that NYSE and NASDAQ each have another tier exchange for stocks that do not qualify. There is no filter based on capitalization of the security. I have seen some pop up with a market cap of $8mm, but they must be listed. Maybe it does not cover NASDAQ CM but NYSE American, where their small cap stocks go should be covered unless they have another smaller, small cap exchange.

You will not see Tier SM stocks do not pop up on the ticker alert. This means you miss out on a significant number of stocks that require trader liquidity. Other systems do not have this flaw. There is no logical reason why tier SM stocks should be missing unless the programmers made an error in input strings to the ticker.
