How are leveraged ETFs (SSO, UPRO) taxed? If I hold for a year, would I be taxed long term or short term?
So If I hold for more than a year, and the etf doesn't give out distribution, would I be taxed on long term capital gains?
Some ETFs, especially common in commodity ETFs, issue K-1s which can bite you especially if you're holding them in a retirement account with limits on those types of profits. Read the prospectus for anything you invest in, for this and so many other important things.
