Level 2 not showing limit order to close position

  1. I don't know if this is IB problem or not.

Let's say i put limit buy order 100 shares at 10.00, I can see it on Level 2 that my order is sitting there to be filled, later on it got filled, then I put limit sell order 100 shares to close my position at 10.50, the problem is I cannot see my limit sell order on Level 2.

I tried changing my sell order routing from SMART to Island, ARCA, still L2 not showing my order.

so many times in thin market let's say NBBO is at 10.40/10.53, on time and sales i can see orders on 10.53 got filled while my sell limit order at 10.50 still not getting filled.

Is this supposed to be how it works?
Is there a setting i should apply to fix this?

No, I haven’t noticed this. Do you actually subscribe have full order books or just top of the books?

  5. do you mean you dont have the same problem as mine or you haven't checked it yet?

please check attachment of my market data subscription below:

Subscriptions look correct. I don’t think I have this problem. I recently put orders after-market to Nasdaq and I could see them. But I normally don’t trade with resting orders or stocks with thin books. Maybe we can do a test together if you want - give me a stock and exchange.

  7. hi qlai, thank you so much for your feedback, but the problem applies to all stocks i trade, if you want to test it you can try putting the limit order for CLOSING POSITION somewhere and you can see on L2 your limit order will not be shown.

How would you see your order on a stock which is active? When I did my test I found a stock which barely moves and has wide spread. Then I would send a sell offer one penny below the best offer. I would see the order on both TOS and IB.

  9. the problem is not when we open the position, the problem is when we want to close the position using limit order, you can try put the limit order to CLOSE POSITION outside the NBBO when you already have a position
