Is it safe to buy a used laptop or computer?

"viruses, malware, spyware..."

three simple freeware programs have been protecting my PCs for the last 15 years, and I have yet to have an issue.

However, I am not a dumbass that opens attachments from unknown e-mail addys. Hmmm.

The thing is, if i got it correct, they pre - install that stuff into your laptop and in case you decide to fix it/buy a second hand one, the Pandora's box gets open.
