I have a shop with woodworking tools and tools for machining metal (lathe and mill among others). Weather permitting, golf and fishing. I work to live, not live to work.
For the last couple of years trying to design a novel collapsible fishing kontiki. The secret is needs to be: light, transportable, compact, cheap, wind powered. It needs to be so it's then easy to transport to remote beach locations easily. I've got it sussed now I think, nearly completed the build. (About my 6th prototype now). I just work on this project slowly, usually weekends couple of hours, most time is spent thinking about it. It takes a fishing line offshore, as far as your fishing line is long, includes a berley container. Will work in winds anywhere up to about 270 deg angles. Wont work if direct onshore wind, but I have another idea for that problem, haven't built it yet. Can also launch from a boat if you wish to fish close to dangerous reefs. Can't sail it thru surf as surf will smash it. I have other types which work in streams or rivers, they operate differently in design. They can take your line anywhere across a river. I could build a surf version, it would be different design again, just I don't have surf where I fish.
Have you tried using a drone to drop the line way out in the surf? I haven't seen it in person, but I have heard of people doing that.
I don't go out much because of the pandemic so I read or play video games or Netflix and chill these days.
Ya, began building two DJI F450 drones at home but bought some electronics which were problematic and that project sits unfinished. Then I was given free a near new DJI Phantom which I returned, too worried it would be lost in the drink. Too expensive a toy for a drone learner driver to play with. I've been told theres a guy local here somewhere who does fishing safari tours using drones.
You forgot to say what you do I watch too many movies and I have taken up forging blades. To be fair, I did not even know about Forged in Fire the show before I bought the workshop.
These days I am trying not to use mobile phone in my free time. So trying different things like cooking and rugby.
