Yes, I found this one interesting but didn't really know what to make of it. Vertical integration of trading houses and trading platforms to provide one stop shopping for hedge fund/institutional clients?
I don't know about that... there's a lot of "second tier" people at LEH making astonishing amounts of money...
There's a lot of ppl making astonishing amounts at Schwab too... what does one have to do with the other?
Congrats to the Townsends !!!!!!!!!!!!! What a success story.....These people are responsible for making trading more efficient...and deserve one hell of a round of applause !!!!!!!! And congrats on the NYSE/ARCA merger which is the icing on the cake.... Now...let´s see the NYSE deliver some efficient and instant executions.... Way to go Townsends !!!!!!!!!
>>On the broker-neutrality issue, Wecker said: "Lehman Brothers values RealTick's status as an established, multi-broker platform. We are committed to preserving RealTick's broker-neutral platform, and we have established policies and procedures to protect the data, trades and confidentiality that RealTick affords end users and broker-dealers using the system.">> http://www.securitiesindustry.com/article.cfm?articleid=16571 - Do you really believe that statement?!...
hahahahah hahahaha ............................. Yeah................lol................. Hey you remember when the majors despised these firms.... Now they have bought all of the direct pioneers...and some wish that they had not..........and usually paid way too much....etc... .................................................................................... The Real Tick model succeeded early on...and failed later on ...with respect to active individual traders...while the rest of the Townsend's businesses were/are amazingly brilliant and successful...Townsends never went to the cents per share model...and required high monthly payments for the software.... They started it....but didn't finish it on the active trader retail end...Nonetheless are the biggest success story for market trading technology...and literally changed the commission business on Wall Street....forever....that is until just the majors own the technology and increase prices...Hopefully some independent direct access players will survive.... ....................................................................................... The right business models for the current environment are: Retail: IB and Medved Leverage: Genesis These companies are the leaders in their niches and will be around a long time...if they want to be...
Anybody know what RealTick sold for ? Cyber sold for over $300 million when the business was hot...Real Tick is a far better product...but I bet sold for less than $100 million....? Townsend´s selling is a little late in the day....?
