With less than a month left in office, the outgoing Massachusetts Representative Joe Kennedy III used his farewell speech from the House floor on Wednesday to lash out at the “greatest lie of our times” – that American resources are “finite” and too scarce to go around.

In his nearly five-minutes long speech, Mr Kennedy said the country’s real problem was “scarcity, [but] greed”.

The last serving member of the legendary Kennedy political dynasty urged the House to work on the nation’s struggle with inequality, while highlighting the inherent contradiction in the founding story of America.

“Here’s what I know: That we are a complicated and messy country,” he said. “That we violated our founding promises before the ink was dry. We boldly declared ‘We The People’ and promptly defined ‘we’ as rich, white, Protestant, men.”

Mr Kennedy, who has been a presence in the House of Representatives since 2013, opted to run for Senate this year, instead of for re-election. He was defeated by incumbent Senator Ed Markey earlier in September, however, and his term in Congress comes to an end on 3 January.

“Our arc isn’t clean, but it is clear," he said. “Each generation expands the definition of ‘we’. We suffer setbacks. We get pushed off-track and sometimes can’t feel the progress. We fight amongst ourselves. But still – generation after generation – we expand.”

“This,” he said, “is the counterweight to the great lie of these times - that the American pie is finite. That for my family to survive, yours must suffer. That the richest nation on earth is plagued by scarcity rather than greed.”
He added that he believes that the future of the nation is “big and bright", saying that “it will take everything and everyone to reach there."

"I hope that a new generation of Americans will rise knowing that the people’s House stands tall for them.”

Mr Kennedy, 40, is the grandnephew of former US president John F Kennedy.

After securing his congressional seat in 2012, he went on to win re-elections in 2014, 2016 and 2018. Though his next move remains shrouded in mystery, he’s been mentioned as a possibility for a post in President-elect Joe Biden’s administration.

The Kennedys have lost their way.
When your brings in a million immigrants a year... you are going to have wealth inequality.
When you party does the bidding of the wall street and tech elite... you are going to have inequality.
When you tax the hell out of the middle class you are going to have inequality.
When you allow you banker friends to create trillions of dollars you are going to have inflation which destroys the value of the assets and wages of the working class

When you import hundreds of thousands of workers per year... you destroy the ability of the middle class to remain equal.

But... sure... go ahead and rant like moron... when your uncle and his co political leaders were a massive part of the laws which created the problem.

By the way... JFK would be to the right of most establishment republicans.

Actually this is a great illustration of thought vs... propaganda.

If you care income and wealth inequality would you tax the hell out of the working class and middle class... or would you only tax the top .5% or top .1% to bring equality back into line.

If you cared about the wages and assets of the upper middle class tech worker... would you allow Silicon Valley to bring in more low wage engineers or make the companies pay up for the citizens already here.

If you cared about the wages of the blue collar guy... would you bring in hundreds of thousands of workers a year.

    No...

But...if you are a leftist moron posting for few cents a post in south america...
you would act like the greedy person is the one... arguing for the middle class.

Fuck you... you greedy Dnc propagandist. Stay in your fucking country or post about your politics.

Anyway.. The little fat head narcissist will just go on and on trying to make one of his black holes.

Perhaps the record in stuck in my head but when I look at the US and the near-sighted greed and self-delusion it is infamous for in the world, a major part of the root comes down to the religious right wanting people to need prayer combined with runaway corporate interests.

So often I have seen Americans fearful of being dragged into catastrophic medical debts instead switch off and try and forget they knew this person. It like a Mad Max move, when somebody's vehicle wrecks and is instantly forgotten.

    Max Max, Beyond Gofundme.

OK that and the pledge of allegiance, I don't like the fallout of that at all either.
