This may be platform specific, as I rarely look at a ladder. But this one I was always curious about. In this example, this is MetaTrader5. Here is an entry and exit I made a short while ago on MNQ Sep. The red box was my entry to buy the long, and the green box was my exit to sell the long. They were both limit orders. So my buy order was listed as selling to someone, and my sell order was listed as buying from someone? What would those show as on someone else's screen, who is not involved in the order, like mine with all the other trades there? Basically, why are they reversed on the screen? Would the person on the other side of the buy order I made (which shows to me as a sell) see it as a buy at 9287.25?
It should show up as a buy order in time and sales if the buyer was taking liquidity and show up as a sell order if the seller is taking liquidity. You provided liquidity on the entry and provided it on the exit. Time and sales should look the same to everyone.
So as you say...It would show up as a buy order if I, as the buyer, were "taking liquidity". And you say I took liquidity in this example (how you could know this I have no idea)... So why does it show as a sell, rather than a buy?
Got it mixed up in my second sentence in regards to the entry. You provided liquidity on your entry and also provided it on your exit. I’ll edit my post
Somebody had to sell at your limit buy price and buy at your limit sell price in order for your limits to be filled. That is what you are seeing here.
Is it only for the two highlighted orders that the buy/sell action seems reversed? Or does this apply to all orders that are indicated on this screen shot?
The two highlighted orders (well, transactions) are the only ones I can know what went down because those are my actual trades, so I know exactly what went on with those lines and can see how it is displayed. All the others I have no idea about, because they were not my trades. After I get through the pain of watching NQ in Asia session continue to rise after my exit (WTF man, I thought it would crash with the vaccine failure news), I can continue to ask questions.
(Bleh, just shut it all down, hate watching overnight sessions lately. Made 25 points for the day in total, will be content with that.) So, um...What about the N/A designation? Any idea on what that represents? @DevBru @eternaldelight
