Some school districts quit healthier lunch program http://news.yahoo.com/school-districts-quit-healthier-lunch-171153815.html As a note our local school districts in North Carolina have seen a 10%+ drop in lunch sales since the Federal government introduced this healthy lunch nonsense. They are also seeing a large amount of food dumped in the trash, and students going hungry rather than eat the "healthy" lunches. A local school cafeteria lady was quoted last spring as saying "I can't believe I am making this crap. Much less than any student would eat it". She lost her job. The only reason that our local school systems are sticking with the "healthy" lunches is because "the National School Lunch Program provides cash reimbursements for each meal served: about $2.50 to $3 for free and reduced-priced meals and about 30 cents for full-price meals." Our large local school districts have a large number of students receiving Free & Reduced lunches and the reimbursements represent a large amount of cash.
The trick to solving the child obesity problem is food that tastes like vomit. Should be quite effective. Hats off to Ms Michelle.
Many of the children on the Free & Reduced Lunch program come from homes without any food in the pantry. In many cases the food at school is the only meal(s) that they child gets all day in these 'food insecurity' situations. So Michelle Obama supports only allowing 850 calories for high school lunches, 700 for middle schools and a mere 650 calories for kids in elementary school. Even the concentration camp survivors in WW2 got 1000 calories per day.
Typical of the entitled whiny culture that America has become. Fucking free food and the little brats aren't happy. Past generations wouldn't even accept handouts, instead they would work for their food. Now they not only want free food, but they want to choose the food too. Disgraceful. Be thankful for what you are being given.
