Does Jack Kennedy deserve the accolades 50 years on ? At the time he was thought of as a demi-God. Thanks to a subservient press. Built up the Camelot legend and all the while cheating on Jackie. Elected thanks to his ex-bootlegger father's ties to the mob. Now that the truth is known he is a tarnished figure. He should have learnt something from the "Bay of Pigs", but no sadly didn't. He got the US into a disastrous war in Vietnam that has influenced US foreign policy ever since. War after distasrous war and now the US is financially broke. Nixon another flawed character but he did get America out of Vietnam.
he did show that after he lowered taxes revenues went up. he did (if all the history shows are correct) prevent a stand off with the Soviets from going nuclear. he set in motion the goal of reaching the moon. he asked us to serve our country instead of feeding off it. His brand of democrats still wanted the country to be great and note he was still good for the civil rights movement. If the dems were like him our country would not be so troubled.

Kennedy's tax cuts were net neutral because he closed many loopholes and eliminated many deductions. Revenues went up because the Fed let up on the brakes and the economy grew.
In a recent TV documentary here it stated that Kennedy would have probably survived the shooting if he had not been wearing a back brace. It held him upright for the next shot to hit him rather than letting him fall down between the seats. History turns on such small trivia sometimes.
