U.S. exports of wheat for this marketing year (beginning June 1) are very strong. Also, there are increasing concerns about planting conditions (meaning future export competition) in parts of the Black Sea region. For a fundamental overview of several agricultural commodities, www.agrimoney.com is a good place to start. It's free, there aren't too many ads and it's targeted, so you don't have to dig through a large volume of unrelated stories or set up a bunch of filters like you need to do with the 'available to the general public' sections of Dow Jones, Reuters or Bloomberg News.
And exports are mainly of KC wheat? I ask because Chicago and Minneapolis wheat have a normal contango curve right now.
Yes, HRW (KC) has seen strong exports, but I think the recent surprise has been SRW (Chgo). Lots sent to Brazil, which has more than made up for missing virtually all of the Egyptian business. The following link will open directly to a large .pdf (maybe 35 pages). Scroll down to page 22 or so and you'll see total export wheat sales (commitments) and actual shipments marketing YTD. Scroll down another page or two and and you can see the same info by class of wheat. http://farmfutures.com/mdfm/Faress1/author/198/2013/10/WWR100413.pdf Note: This download is from a farm magazine company; I've never had any security problems with their documents.
