UBI. That'll get some votes. ___________________________________________ Kamala Harris and other prominent Democrats want to repeal Trump's tax cuts and replace them with cash payouts for the poor and working class With midterm elections 2½ weeks away and the 2020 presidential race around the corner, prominent Democrats are embracing an ambitious idea: Repeal and replace the $1.5 trillion Republican tax plan. The proposals would get rid of the tax cuts and, in turn, funnel that money into government-guaranteed cash for low- and middle-income households. Possible White House contender Sen. Kamala Harris announced a plan this week that would give working families up to $6,000 each year, with the option of receiving monthly payments. The proposals would get rid of the tax cuts and, in turn, funnel that money into government-guaranteed cash for low- and middle-income households. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., announced a plan this week that would give working families up to $6,000 each year, with the option of receiving monthly payments. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., outlined a similar idea last year. A bill from Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-N.J., would allow stay-at-home parents and students to receive the money as well. "The idea was to provide a clear contrast with Donald Trump," Khanna told CNBC in an interview. "You know what you could actually do with this money? You could give anyone making under $75,000 a raise." The measures are significantly more dramatic than some previous Democratic proposals – a reflection of the proximity to the midterm elections and the early interest surrounding the presidential race in 2020. Harris and Brown are potential contenders for the White House, and Democrats have been seeking bold ideas to present to their energized electorate. ------------------------------------------------
Saw this earlier, smart move seeing how the bill polled terribly among both party lines. Would also keep them from making all the cuts the GOP if proposing due to reduced tax revenue. November 6 Democrat wins, November 7-8 FOMC bumps up rates. Prepare for the year's best short I'd say.
There are sexual abuse allegations against this scumbag. If he's innocent instead of threatening legal action, he should call for an FBI investigation and step down from the race pending the results. Those are the new rules, right? Ohio Senate race: Sherrod Brown accused of 'unwanted' advance against woman in '80's. Depending on how she defines middle income its a good move. The establishment republicans have not delivered for the their base. Kamala could pick them off with a free money.
Remember when I said the "Kavanaugh smear" would now be a tactic pulled into many races after the Democrats had established this low #MeToo slander as the new standard. In the past, 30 year old allegations without any supporting evidence or police reports would be ignored. Obviously many of them are complete nonsense. Democrats better be ready for the blow-back on this "Kavanaugh smear" tactic. Many of their politicians can also be easily excused -- by women who can probably provide more compelling "evidence" than Christine Blasey Ford ever provided to muddy the water.
I think all the voter suppression stories are energizingthe left in the same way. Fortunately, the right's moved on from the kavanaugh outrage and is on damage control over Arabia
Yeah. And waste more legislative time for an absolutely zero f'ing chance of getting anything passed. But it sounds good on the stump. Business as usual.
I agree, hope they shout this from the rooftops in the mid-terms. Just think how ecstatic all the hard working tax payer's will be at the idea of working their asses off so the Dem's can give money to freeloader's. Being poor is 90% on the choices you make.
