Just Wanting to Say Thanks

So I just want to take a minute to let everyone on ET know how much I appreciate your participation here. When I first started Elite Trader back in 1997, I had quit my job as a residential construction manager and started trading my nest egg from home. It didn't take me too long to realize a couple things:

    1. Trading Profitably is Hard
    2. Trading is Lonely

It was on those two premises that I started ET. I knew that trading was hard, but that really wasn't the insurmountable obstacle. I was confident that I could find an edge and work it. My real problem was that I was basically going nuts being by myself. I desperately needed a way to communicate with other guys who were going through the same challenges that I was. So when I had put all positions on, I would research...... day and night.... whatever it took to get myself the knowledge I needed to construct an interactive site. Now keep in mind that this was so far back in the internet days that Yahoo wasn't even a "search engine". It was merely a directory of sites that you had to manually drill down through. So for example, if you wanted to find ET on Yahoo, you would have to go to Yahoo > Directory > Investing > Day Trading. At the time, my site was only one out of maybe two or three listings at the most.

Needless to day, times have changed a lot since then. But one thing hasn't, and that's my desire to create and maintain a site that traders love. So I just want to sincerely say thanks to all of you who have participated over the years, even those who have just registered. I also want to reinforce that ET isn't just another web site for traders. This site has a history that few, if any others have, and I STILL have a burning desire to make Elite Trader the best site it can possibly be. I can't always guarantee that changes and feature requests will instantly happen, but what I can guarantee is that your voice will be heard, and that I am always moving in the direction of making ET better, not worse.

So in summary, I just appreciate everyone on this site who contributes and makes ET a better place, and I wish you guys a profitable 2014. :)

  2. Backatcha. Thank you.

Whilst you obviously make some good money from this site now, I don't think people really appreciate how much work is involved in starting up and running a site with this volume of content and traffic.

    Hats off.

  3. A sincere thank you for this great ET site.
I can not tell in how many and unexpected ways it has been useful. :)
Thanks for keeping it up, and please don't go and sell it without
letting us know well in advance.

    Baron, a HUUUGE "Thank You!"

This site has been a blessing to all of us who just need to earnestly riff some ideas and get the black, white and fifty shades of gray in food for thought that the locals are willing to share. Here's to continued success of your site, sir!

  5. ET is a great little corner cyberpub around the corner from the "Exchanges". Nice work coding!:)

    Many thanks to you, Baron.

Elite Trader is a very fertile ground for an exchange of ideas and a source for accelerated learning.

Your site fills a very important social and professional need for traders.

  7. I'd like to echo those sentiments. I joined a trading site last week and they appear to be self-obsessed bordering on paranoia with most of the discussion about the site and the members rather than trading. Really quite amateurish. Luckily, I discovered elitetrader a few days ago which is an altogether different proposition. There's good focus on the job in hand and a busieneslike manner. Perhaps just reflects the difference between American work ethic and the British one, but whatever the reason, I can work with guys like you.

  8. Great site.... thank you.

  9. Baron - thank you for a great site. I've met the majority of my trading friends here on ET between 2001/2002 and 2008. It was a huge help to me during my formative years as an active day trader. It's fun to see how the site has evolved and I've certainly learned much over the years (and hopefully contributed a bit in return).

  10. Thank you, Baron. This is a great site!
