Junk bond trading with IB

  1. Anyone is trading Junk bonds with IB ? like market maker style ?

    No HFT there yet .......

    I love GPS 5.95 04/12/21 right now

  2. That bond isn't quite a junk bond, is it?

Probably kind of difficult to do without being a firm offering quotes/receiving requests for quotes etc. but maybe so idk. There's always money to be made of course.

  3. You are right, not a junk bond ... "BAA1 Moody's" and "BBB- S&P"

    But anyway ....

  4. In TWS just type GPS and select bonds ....

  5. Market depth for bonds too ...

  6. Lol not doubting the potential there. Awhile back I remember reading about some firms getting into the space because there is a ton of potential. Go for it, if you can find them mispriced relative to a value you calculate or if you can sit on them and be the best bid/ask I'm sure you could make some serious coin as the spread is usually decently wide on most. Might not make a huge difference to someone buying the bond to hold, but to you could be some good money with enough.

    Go for it!

  7. I don't think it's possible to market-make bonds on IBKR, I do occasionally enter orders there and there are constant trade troughs and non-honoring of quotes. Basically the bond market structure is one giant scam against the little guy. I basically will put in a bid for $101, and it'll trade $100 on ten separate occasions without me getting a fill. Maybe somebody has some order type hints, but from my current perspective, it's a waste of time.

  8. Sometimes the minimun size affect executions ....

What was your lots size ?

  9. I usually do $10k or $20k , what is your experience/ suggestions?

  10. I want to short sell venezuela government bonds... can IB even do that? Is there any better broker for that?
