July 21 (Bloomberg) -- A Renaissance Technologies LLC hedge fund’s investors probably avoided more than $6 billion in U.S. income taxes over 14 years through transactions with Barclays Plc and Deutsche Bank AG, a Senate committee said....

  6. LOL.

I read that Warren Buffet who when his "never-sell" investment in US banks was hitting the skids, threatened to sell his shares and got a sweet heart deal that we couldn't get. He advised us that he was unable to pay what his secretary paid in taxes. A sad sad case indeed. He could have written a cheque for the difference in 5 minutes. He didn't but is happy for more taxes for everyone else. I think he intends to write that cheque after death.

How about washington elites that get the ability to front run while lobbists line up to take the people's money away? I am sure the ethics of the lobbists forbid them from handing out stock tips.

I read about the clinton's who were poor leaving the white house - poor clinton's! (Is the basic purpose of political service to get rich?) They have a daughter who has tried to care about money and can't. (Reminds me of the people are revolting - let them eat cake.) Luckily they got rich again.

I read about a California fellow (name escapes me) who after making lots of money on oil, now preaches that oil is the sin of the universe - ban the keystone pipeline. He is a big democrat and great humanitarian now. The conversion seems much like the biblical one that happened to Saul on the road to Damascus - save yourself, don't do what I have done!

How about Christie who helps with traffic flow on the washington bridge. Or Mr. Blagojevich who was "stunned, simply stunned" at his corruption charges.

In Canada we have a senator who has been charged with 31 counts of corruption and can hardly wait for his day in court to prove his innocence. So can we. We have a mayor who admitted to smoking crack cocaine, in a province that has the worse debt of any population in the world, balancing their budget with more debt. (Don't know where they got that idea.)

Stockman says that there is a warfare party and a welfare party. I say there is only one party and you and I are not invited to it!

But the biggest irony of all is: The media attacks the out-of-control millionaires of Russia in their political process. Et tu Brutus!

  7. More leftist hypocrisy. I've heard lots of lefties make the claim that they're willing to pay more in taxes but I've yet to hear of one of them actually doing it.

Never once have I seen it done. Not to mention that conservatives give far more to charity than liberals.

Also, has anyone ever heard of a liberal or pro-tax advocate, not take advantage of trusts to tie up all their assets? These people claim they want higher taxes on the rich, to help the little guy, and then use trust so that they never pay ONE single penny upon their death.

  9. why do all these reports repeat the claim that the scheme was "complex"? It wasn't complex in the slightest. All Rentech did was wave a wand over it's brokerage account and call it an "option." That's it. There was nothing at all clever or complex about it.
