    Japanese Stocks Drop Amid Heavy Futures Trading, Selling in Financials and Commodities


    TOKYO (AP) -- Japanese stocks plunged at midday Monday amid heavy futures trading and large selling of financial and commodity stocks. The dollar was lower against the yen.
    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index shed 214.95 points, or 1.34 percent, to 15,876.78 points on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Monday. The index fell 72.14 points, or 0.45 percent, to close Friday at 16,091.73 points.
