I'm going to talk...Babble for a couple minutes.

Would like some insight concerning the thought process (algorithms) of when to exercise in the money options.

We will assume there in no/minor dividend coming into play.

When I have a CC close to the money, I always seem to have to watch the last couple of days, to see if there is an opportunity to buy back.

Some choose to exercise on Thursdays, some Fridays (during trading hours), some after hours, some on Saturday mornings.

Do companies with bad or good news (they are holding onto), release the information between Saturday afternoons through Thursdays??

Would releasing information on Fridays (expiration date) be (in most cases) a no no?

Could this possibly create what looks like a pump and dump scenario for the stock...Class action lawsuits?

Just for general info the stock in Cisco 6/20/25 $65.

There IS a dividend coming up (47 cents)...(July).

Any "real" insight when and why they call away would be appreciated...

  2. I'm not sure what you're talking babbling on about, but you're overthinking things. Trading is all about time and timing. That's it. That basic. That simple.

Trading is truly black and white. But with a huge amount of gray in the middle. And that's the very difficult part many people seem to fail to grasp,

    Let's make it more basic...

ITM exercised...What percentage is algorithm and what percentage is human assisted??

    Code:
    some x where x ∈ ℚ
You're welcome, can I get my paycheck now?

    Ahahhahah! I'm so funny :D

  5. C'mon. When the div exceeds the time value (marketable). Discretion in all other cases. Your English is like trying to decipher Sanskrit.

  6. You're in the set of irrational.

The answer to this question is 100% is human assisted algorithm. Don't listen to Becky, he's just trying to derail and sabotage as usual.

  8. Since the OCC auto-exercises long options 0.01 ITM and you sell CCs, I guess you mean are there bots or algorithms involved when you are Assigned Early on a short call that still has TV? Sounds like demon has 'splained why.

    Rip me if you wish...

The last week of expiration (over 20+ years), I have seen assignments come at different days and hours.

I know the human has coded it...Except AI.

Does a human make the final decision on when to execute/assign (early)??

What % is human assigned and what % is algorithm assigned (early)??

    Simple valid question I believe...

Call option is worth more alive than exercised , assuming there is no div/ rate play as DC pointed out. You exercise you are now short the put..

p.s. if you are in a CC, getting called away by some lower form of intelligence is a good thing
