While lefties and Biden types were calling Trump a Xenophobe...Trump was taking the advice from a top guy. (and he is well educated)

The Death By China author was probably the perfect advisor.
He was right on the travel ban and he seems to have been correct to face off against Fauci behind the scenes.

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro warned in a late January memo the coronavirus could cost the United States trillions without a travel ban on China.

Navarro called for an immediate travel ban on China in the memo, dated January 29, that predicted a coronavirus pandemic would cost the United States over $3.8 trillion.
The details of the memo, which was first reported by the New York Times on Monday evening and later published in full by Axios, was addressed to the National Security Council just days before the president enacted his travel ban on China.

“The clear dominant strategy is an immediate travel ban on China,” Navarro wrote, noting the virus could cost as many as half a million American lives.

Navarro’s memo argued the financial cost of a travel ban with China would be minimal compared to the cost of doing nothing.

Donald Trump enacted his travel ban two days later, on January 31.

Navarro warned it was unlikely the virus would look like “seasonal flu,” at a time when many health experts were comparing coronavirus statistics to the numbers of Americans killed by the flu.

In a second memo dated February 23, Navarro warned of the need to acquire vast quantities of personal protective equipment for medical staff as they faced the virus.

Navarro warned the virus “could infect as many as 100 million Americans, with a loss of life of as many as 1-2 million souls.”

He also urged the White House to begin appropriating billions of dollars from Congress to prepare.

“Time is of the essence for all points of the PPE, treatment, vaccine, and diagnostics!” he concluded.

Trump said today he never saw Ron Vara’s memo but with Trump you have to use your own personal judgment to determine how many levels of a lie Trump is telling.

Vara’s memo cited trillions of dollars in economic loss and hundreds of thousands of deaths. Which was a pretty accurate take. The problem is that Vara’s memo was passed around at the same time Trump was calling Covid a hoax and all of that garbage.

So, what is Trump supposed to do? Acknowledge he saw the memo and had the information but chose to call Covid a hoax and not prepare the nation, of course not. He has to deny having any information that was widely available at the time.

It’s so shitty this is our country but it’s who we are for now.

Trump now says he didn't see the warnings from Navarro, he's either lying or doesn't pay attention to his top advisors on extremely important issues, which is it? How do you guys keep supporting this feckless administration.

Regardless of what you think about Trump..
"Donald Trump enacted his travel ban two days later, on January 31."

When your team was calling him a racist and a xenophobe.

Peter Navarro is a pretty smart adviser. A lot of times, liberal media hacks attacks him on cable tv trying to trip him up and not enabling him to answer back to explain himself. He has handled himself well and shows only the utter ignorance of the liberal media hacks on cable tv.

Top biologist to Fox News host: Unproven drug treatment hyped by Trump is ‘complete and utter nonsense’

Dr. William Haseltine, a biologist renowned for his work in confronting the HIV/AIDS epidemic, fighting anthrax and advancing our knowledge of the human genome, told Fox News on Monday that an unproven drug treatment for the new coronavirus hyped by President Donald Trump was a “quack cure.””It’s sad to me that people are promoting that drug. We know already from studies at best it will have a very mild effect — at very best,” Haseltine told Fox News host Dana Perino about hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug that Trump has repeatedly promoted against the advice given by Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Perino then asked Haseltine about “stories of people saying that they’ve had this Lazarus effect by using this drug,” an apparent reference to a claim made by her Fox News colleague Laura Ingraham.

Haseltine replied, “That is nonsense — complete and utter nonsense. And, in any situation, there are always going to be people who promote one kind of quack cure or another, and there are Lazarus effects. In every epidemic I’ve ever looked at, it’s always the case.”

Haseltine himself told Salon last month that Trump bears a considerable amount of blame for the extent to which the pandemic has ravaged America.
