Is working Asian hours that bad?

So I've been interviewing a bunch of junior people and literally everyone was taken aback by the fact that we expect them to trade in Asian hours. It's not even graveyard shift, it's from 7pm to 2 am. Why such a hate?

Because young people want to party with their friends then. Have you considered hiring someone overseas?

  3. Those are the best hours to trade. Zero distractions. What market?

It depends and like Robert said, if some one is partying those times, they may not be able to give up..If it is work from home they may be interested but they should be trustworthy and will actually work if they work from home. Also depend on the type of market. (spotfx-it is 2nd best time, 1st being Euro open hours).

Trading is trading. If they pay you a fair wage and you need the work, and you can handle the hours and learn a little, it's a good opportunity. I've met sle, he is a good man and most of us can learn from him. If I were 25, I'd be interested. At 56, not for me.

No way. I want someone sitting next to me - my stuff is tricky enough as is, without the complications of a remote setup. Previously, we'd share the work-load between myself and my co-PM, but due to some issues we are splitting up, so I need someone to at least pick up part of the work.

This is the first time I am having problems finding bright and motivated people, might be the sign of the times. Or it is also possible that I am looking for a person that does not exist - someone that is interested in finance, has the IT skillset I need, has the personality that I can get along with and that is interested in working within my setup. Anyway, just ranting 'cause two people said "NO" and I have been courting them for a few weeks.

  7. It's frustrating. What type of IT skillset are you looking for? FPGA programming?

I am curious we are in "Gig" economy, you are offering a full-time position with future and you are having difficulty, I am wondering if you are offering enough compensation?

Maybe if you give details, without the pay here, it might help. What asset class, what type of trading, what knowledge etc. Can't hurt.

  10. Asian hours is just a couple of setups,no different then RTH,the diff is just in volatility.
