    Wow.
12 noon the NWS updated on Irma, and in the next 15 minutes, the SPX dropped from -10 pts to -23pts, and is now down -30pts.

Equal drops across the NDX and DJIA and RUT.

Not so curiously, the TRIN has climbed, but remains buy-volume-weighted at 0.78.

The seal on the deal? The DAX and Eurocentric DJ600 are bracketing 0.00% for the day. (Thus, this is a 'Merican deal, not a global deal.)

VIX is climbing throughout the day, though. So, Irma's scariness remains. Time to buy HD/LOW/etc....?

    Tom,

Irma certainly looks like a massive storm - kinda reminiscent of Hurricane Andrew....maybe Florida will get lucky and it will just kick up into the Atlantic Ocean.

Gee, thanks. That puts it on track to scrape the east coast of US and up to NY, where all the RBOB settlement takes place, lol!

If the high pressure area recedes enough, it goes NE into the Atlantic but that appears to be a best case scenario. My Sister and Bro-in-Law have a home and business in St Pete and the area is in emergency and evac mode.

  5. This just in - "Low pressure area in Gulf will steer Irma toward SE Texas coast and Houston area..."

Not really! But sheesh, can you imagine if that happened.

It is smelling like a storm that will track NE, and mess with US east coast.

We'll know soon enough but this is no time to be in the Islands....gonna be bad. I've been to Antigua and Puerto Rico and things look rough for those folks.

  8. Storm of the Decade as of now, 185MPH sustained winds, 220MPH gust winds, 700 miles diameter, and an eye as uniform as good porn.

    Scary stuff.

  9. Yowzer, if it hits FL with that force...game over man...
    Might make Andrew look small.

Yeah... that's going to be a scary one... 180 mph... that's a lot more than Harvey.

I've got friends at the BVI... looks like it's going to hit that directly.... Also Barbuda is next to be hit directly, in about 1 hr....
