I'm wanting to collect some data for a hypothesis I have about the type of people that are attracted to trading for a living. Can you help? Thanks in advance!
Holy crap. That's kind of what I expected, but I didn't know it would be that severe. Now I need to figure out if this is unique to ET and other online forums, or if this true across the board.
What if you're just lazy to be either? Personally, I think the distinction between extrovert and introvert is just another stupidity the Western culture (especially USA) cooked up out of their fixation on popularity contest.
Trading is an OMO (one-man-operated) job. You interface with the computers/charts/platforms/screens .... (and perhaps forums) most of the time. It is not suitable for extroverts.
The question reminds me of the old joke about mathematicians being introverts. Maybe traders are of the same breed. A physicist, and engineer and a mathematician were discussing their love lives. The physicist said: "It's a good idea I'm intelligent, because it means I can remember the lies I tell my wife when I'm off with my mistress. She knows no different." The engineer said, "I just tell the wife that I have an old boiler to maintain, and off I go with my mistress. She knows no different." The mathematician said, "Both my wife and my mistress know about each other. No worries. Each of them thinks I'm with the other, whereas in fact I'm sitting on my own in a room getting some math done."
Your conclusion is flawed, as it is based on the assumption that everyone who voted is attracted to trading for a living.
