DOW is above 30,000 and market is in good mood but interestingly I don't find anything to trade. I cannot convince myself to get into any trade. I did 26 trades yesterday which is a normal day but nothing today. My last trade was to sell 2 weekly naked 500 PUT on TSLA for $6. Somehow I am not convinced with this rally.
%% DOW did look fairly weak; even more so for a short week. Plenty of tech Etfs + UPRO/spxl uptrending fine/but since i'm not planning on trading Thanksgiving or part of FRI/took some profits on upro+FDN. [If i had known FDN was trending l that well would have let profits run a bit more............................................................ ,as of todays close Almost bought some more SPXS or spxu/but to weak week, as of todays close,to do that
If it's not there the worse thing you can do is force a trade. I am always extremely careful between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Markets can wander and chop around.
There's a weird irony here. Remember Dec 26th, 2018? Markets started going gangbusters. Here we are, two years later, and the news is that everyone is going to lose their last bit of unemployment bumpf on Dec 26th, 2020. Hmm!!
You didn't find anything to trade? Surely this might either very restrictive set-up rules, or you had some compunction to avoid pulling the trigger. There's nothing wrong with stipulating a watertight set-up before you go in - it just means fewer trades per year. Personal choice. But maybe you avoided going in today on good grounds and you had to ignore what your TA and set-up were telling you and sit on your hands. Which might suggest some gaps in your strategy rules?
I did not want to go out of my comfort zone and try to find a trade. I rarely trade commodities. In terms of future, I trade mainly ES options. What I meant was that market surprised me by going up and I did not want to go along and also did not believe market is a short now so I just did nothing. I was expecting ES to pull back a little AH but it is up 0.45% as of now.
