In Germany, 500g raw spaghetti at my discounter (NP) went from €0.34 to €0.89. That's 162% more expensive than before the sanctions against Russia in the last 6 months.. This is the cheapest shapghetti product. So called "quality" products of other companies cost much more, around €1.99. I know the price development of spaghetti very well b/c I'm a big spaghetti eater...
And we are just getting started. Wait till oil prices go higher. Oil is inflationary and natural gas prices are already sky high in Europe. On the plus side, deep recessions in Europe and US will finally, end the useless Ukraine war. When there are not enough monies to go around, European and US aid to Ukraine will cease as it should and bring the war to an end.
%% Maybe accurate; but i seldom eat potatoes anyway. NOT likely an evil empire like [central control commie freaks]Russia has anywhere near the grocery stores UK does, for sure not like in USa. Interesting comments from some new Russian/US citizens in LA= '' WOW, even the poor people in US are fat!!'' The russian- Americans were amazed by that . Inside edition[MARCH 2022]says Russian fish is up 60% /milk is up 45%. But then again Commies are known for propaganda + lies + quote ''treaties are like pie crusts = made to be broken'' unquote. Commies are frequent liars= common pattern. Thanks
Europe is already seeing lots of unions demonstrating because their salaries cannot keep up with the price of food and their other expenses. It only gets worst from here. US not too far off, higher taxes on US companies with the Inflation Reduction Act will feed higher inflation, not counting the price of oil and natural gas going up as well!
%% Higher taxes?? WE just had a sales tax holiday last day of AUGUST. Any CPA has a goal of reducing taxes; that can be a good thing , because higher prices, higher taxes rake less volume in . I sure buy less gasoline as prices rise+ vice versa. XOM is selling gas here for $3.18, MUR selling gas for $3.08 + still down trending. I do live in of the 7 US states that has no state income tax
Good for you. Any taxes on US corporations will be merely, passed on to US consumers. No company US or foreign will accept higher taxes without passing it to consumers in higher prices of their goods. Sales taxes are based on the cost of that good you purchased. The higher the price of goods, the higher the sales taxes you end up paying. It may take a few months in the retail level for this to affect most US consumers but, it is coming nonetheless. Oil prices seems highly manipulated due to the releases by Joe Biden from the US strategic petroleum reserves which the US sold to China and Europe. That is not going to last as OPEC has already said, it will cut oil supplies. Add to that, the US strategic petroleum reserves dwindling lower as Biden releases more and more oil. Give it 6 months, oil is going to be much, much higher.
It's interesting that China would oppose a price cap on Russian oil considering it's actually a huge importer of oil. LOL China is really going all out for her Russian lover!! LOL
