Increase Energy Levels?

Discussion in 'Health and Fitness' started by proftradingjourney, Dec 11, 2022.

  1. I know this site is probably not the best place to discuss this, but whatever. I have the motivation and discipline to learn and practice trading, but man... lately I'm just so out of energy. It doesn't help that I don't sleep well, but even when I sleep ok...I'm just exhausted.

Anything you guys do that keeps you fresh and energized each day? Obviously a good nights rest and exercise goes a long way, everyone knows this, but any foods/supplements that have helped boost your energy from your experience? Or helped you sleep better?

    Sleep well.
    Eat well.
Exercise. And i don't mean some runnin for 5-10 mins around the block. I mean really using that body, at least 3 sets of pushups and pullups until muscle failure, 3x per week.
    Eat well.
    Sleep well.
    Repeat.

Few weeks into it, after having a break of 3-4 days, extra levels of energy.
Know nothing about TRT for now, but heard, that it's a ,,must" after 40's, since natural production drops 1% per year.

  3. Definitely good advice there no doubt. What sucks though is that (not to get too personal) but I was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (the autoimmune insulin-dependent diabetes), and while exercise is no doubt a good thing for my diabetes overall, it can bring blood sugar higher or lower depending on the exercise (weight-lifting temporarily higher, cardio-mostly lower). High/low blood sugar have long-term complications, but can be fatal if they are at dangerous levels.

So basically, I'm kind of probing my way into exercise. Taking it slow. The other day I did some pretty intense short duration shadow boxing and it dropped my sugar by like 40 points in 30 mins! Had to eat some candy right away to bring it up lol. I'm 24 btw.

    Oh shoe, da hell,
wasn't sure it strikes a young person.

Well my right knee , a decade or more, and will be gone, so we are both, messed up.

    Now the question, -
what are we going to do about it ?

Watchout, calculate, but don't let it to have an impact on you.

  5. In case you didn't know, Type 1 is an autoimmune condition, it's not like Type 2 where a poor diet increases your likelihood of developing it, but with Type 1, my pancreas just doesn't produce any insulin on its own anymore, so I have to inject synthetic insulin daily. Basically it occurs because the immune system attacks the insulin producing cells in the pancreas known as islet cells. We still don't know exactly what causes the disease, but it's believed to be genetic with environmental triggers. I probably had a genetic predisposition to it, but something external triggered this immune response, and I think it was COVID that did, but this is just speculation.

Before my diagnosis I didn't have the best diet, crappy American diet tbh. But I liked to exercise when I could, was always at a healthy weight. Lots of stuff lead up to my diagnosis (including many symptoms like uncontrolled weight loss) which could be a page long story, but my diagnosis has changed my diet pretty drastically. I eat much healthier now.

Very, very rarely do I indulge on junk food or any food rather (only for a special occasion), because I simply can't, it would bring my sugar too high. Only time I have sweets or some sugary food is to bring my sugar up if it's too low.

I eat more fruits than ever before, just can't indulge too much as I stated earlier.

Problem is for meals, I still eat a lot of heavy, dense, protein rich foods, like meat, chicken, turkey bacon. After I eat this kind of stuff, I always feel tired. Gotta incorporate more choices into my diet.

I think I'm doing pretty well so far managing it. My blood sugar is 90+ percent in range most days.

Have you tried Kraft Mac n' Cheese, with 1/4 cup skim milk, 1/4th TSP butter, and a can of solid white tuna? Mix it all up with some black pepper, and enjoy hot. Do it for a week, see how you feel.

Do not eat to enjoy eating. Eat to survive, and you will find that your world is open to many more possibilities.

  7. Yeah that's the mantra I've been going with since my diagnosis. Tbh, even when I eat something I used to love (ice cream), for a holiday or something (had some on Thanksgiving), I don't think I missed out on much. And plus there's so much stress to deal with when you get the insulin dose for these kind of foods wrong, because these kind of sugary foods raise the blood glucose high, so I just avoid them 99 percent of the time. The higher carb the food, the harder it is to dose for it.

Thankfully there are some low carb delicious snacks I like that I can eat. I love dark chocolate and almonds are awesome. It's not all bad. My old diet didn't cause my condition, but tbh, I'm sticking to a diet that I should've before I had T1 diabetes. 3 healthy meals a day, little snacking in between (fruits, healthy snacks), and hydration -> tea/water.

I always need to have something sugary on me though, in case my sugar goes too low.

Indeed. I cannot imagine what a pain in the ass that must be with the diabetes, having to have an emergency sugar supply always on hand. But I tend to wonder if that dependency can be tapered with a super-boring diet with the same balanced foodstuff over time, so body can acclimate to it.

  9. Yes, it can be tapered with good insulin dosage and a balanced diet, but as a Type 1, sometimes you can give yourself too much insulin and go low as a result, so that's why I always need something sugary on me. And sometimes there are just those days where you are lower/higher for whatever reason and have to act accordingly.

Once I ate a full meal, 2 slices of whole wheat bread with one burger patty, and my sugar didn't even go up at all, just kept going down, I said wtf lol. Low sugar is a terrible feeling too, the lowest I was was 59 mg/dl and it's scary. At that point, you have to drink juice, and or take some sugar tablets ASAP to get the sugar up immediately, because it can be deadly if you don't.

Nobody wants a disease, not me, not anyone, and I don't wish this upon any good person. But it's not all bad, and it could be way worse. It really puts life in perspective. If you are in good health, cherish it and cherish those around you. Every day. Be thankful that you are in good health. Health and family are the most important things in life. Period.

Indeed. That is one thing I am very thankful for...For whatever reason, my body will digest anything in any quantity, and my blood-measurements never get out of whack. I can eat a whole pizza, a whole cake, a pound of brownies, blah blah blah, it doesn't matter. I'm like a snack-hole. And the vitamin and serum levels and all that stuff? The charts and the docs say I am A-OK. Amazing after all these years.

The only one I occasionally have trouble with is Vitamin D, because I avoid the sun. So every couple years they give me those Supervitamegavegamin-D pills...You know, the 50,000 IU pills once a week for a month. Man, those are fun.

So I am wholly thankful that I have at least that going for me, if not my trading. Bleh.

And then I think back to an old friend of mine who has diabetes (I do not recall which level), but I do not think she was at that "have to have sugar all the time with me level", but she had to have a toe amputated because of it. I remember being very angry about that.

Therefore, as your new POTUS 2024, I am declaring Diabetes illegal, and thus all scientists who do not help solve this terrible problem are liable and may serve jail-time.

Solve the fucking diabetes problem with all this money we give you, and NOT on studies that show monkeys enjoy sex because you measured the pleasure areas of their brains.

We do not need to know this. Thank you, science.

    ON 2024.
