President Trump has unveiled (at 9pm on a Thursday night) an executive order (below) creating a task force on the US Postal System with a direct shot across Amazon's bow: "Evaluating... the expansion and pricing of the package delivery market." But, just as The White House released the text of the Executive Order, Bloomberg reports that Jeff Bezos is preparing to launch "Shipping with Amazon" to disrupt the shipping industry... https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018...sps-task-force-bezos-launches-shipping-amazon
Isn't there a more fundamental question to be answered about Amazon? That is, the most profitable sector of their businesses is AWS. They take profits from there to continually fund intentional losses in their customer retail operations (aka loss leaders). We're not talking about a small number of loss leaders to attract traffic. Virtually all companies do that. We're talking about a concerted effort to drive other competitors out of their retail sectors from doing so BY MEANS OF the "AWS printing money press", a very disparate part of their entire operation. There's some detailed speculation on some websites about this, based on Amazon's own financial reporting. The speculation gets into violation of RICO statutes. Who knows. The final outcome may be a break-up of their ever-growing monopoly. As typical with all of this, the really bad stuff gets exposed and traded negatively upon during the demise of raging bull markets and on into the depths of the bear. Ignorance is a cliche during the height of the bull where no analyst would dare question the golden goose.
