I'm gonna learn Hungarian with my kid

  1. My kid almost finishes 5th grade and although he is learning German at school, he doesn't really speak a lot of it.

Now, I learned German in gymnasium, not in high school and university where I did English/French then only English. I speak English close to native level now, kiddo is comfortable with English too.

But the 2nd language, he makes the minimum effort. Ich weiss nicht warum ich errinere mich Deutch (after) alle diese Jahre aber ich verstehe es ein bitchen. (That was all from my mind, without Google, words I don't know in paranthesis).

So I reckon I'll teach him German by learning along him but then again, it's not entirely fair since I remember quite a bit of it. I guess the only fair thing would be for me to start learning a completely unknown language at the time. And for that, I choose Hungarian. It's still an European language, if I hear the words I almost can write them and if I read the words I definitely can read them. It's just that every freaking word is different, airport (Romanian: "aeroport" is repülőtér).

Will keep you updated how it goes. Werde euch berichten wie es weitergeht. (Majd tájékoztatlak, hogy alakulnak a dolgok). I understand the German part, the Hungarian part might have been as well Chinese :p
