If the Articles never go to the Senate then was the President really impeached?

If this wasnt so serious it would be a joke. We are a few days from 2020 and the dems are still worried about 2016.

    Yes, Trump is Impeached.

Look up the word "impeach" at dictionary.com.

"Impeached" does not mean REMOVED FROM OFFICE. Everyone just calm down! Trump is not going anywhere, he is an impeached president, just like Bill Clinton.

I hope Nancy Pelosi hangs on to the impeachment charges all the way to March 2020. That way, the Senate trial will run into the coming election cycle on November 3, 2020. Then, the Senate trial will be smack dab into election season with tens of millions seeing the Senate trial on live TV.

I would be open to hearing more arguments on this but the constitution gives the House the sole power of impeachment so I think this is more fantastical constitution theory than true legal philosophy.

It isn't impeachment until it is sent up to the Senate. McConnell has told Pelosi to pound sand so far as trying to negotiate with the Senate. She is simply trying to forestall the inevitable acquittal. It seems quite un-American to me.

It is notable that the constitutional scholars saying this are Democrats. They also assert that if the matter is not transferred to the Senate by the end of this Congressional Session it is null and void.

    Trapped by the process... LOL.

Agree. I went over to reddit on the day of impeachment and I was absolutely shocked by the amount of people that thought this meant Trump is out of office. I saw one comment that said "I've never been so happy. I'm so glad this buffoon is gone". He was given reddit gold and silver and hundreds of upvotes and not one person correcting him.

"Each Congress lasts two years and is comprised of two sessions. The dates of Congress' sessions have changed over the years, but since 1934, the first session convenes on Jan. 3 of odd-numbered years and adjourns on Jan. 3 of the following year, while the second session runs from Jan. 3 to Jan. 2 of even-numbered years. Of course, everyone needs a vacation, and Congress' vacation traditionally comes in August, when representatives adjourn for month-long summer break. Congress also adjourns for national holidays."

    Nancy has until January 3rd.
