IBKR not taking Outside RTH

Not sure why but IBKR isn't filling my buy/sell orders outside RTH. The slider is greyed out in the open position but nothing. Does a greyed out slider mean it's not available in my country regardless if it's in the open or closed position? I thought maybe it was the ticker but it seems to be for all shares that I trade and I'm pretty sure I've traded those tickers before.

Anyone from IBKR can answer this?

STOP ORDER will be removed

margin requirement could be changed

MARKET order will be disallowed

etc etc etc

So watch out.

 

I trade MSTR and outside RTH there are big moves

 

Once you place an order, you can't change it. So if your default is rth from configuration, you have to select the option before sending.

Cancel the order and create a new one, selecting outside rth before sending.

At least that's my experience with outside rth on SPX options.

If you want to buy/sell outside RTH with IBKR, make sure you only use limit orders and not market orders, that should hopefully solve your problem.

 

Nope, they're all limit orders. Now that we're in premarket everything works as intended.

 

I haven't used in a few years, but you used to be able to see presets so that your default is always fill outside RTH. I had stops miss early on because I didn't check it. Having it checked in presets leads you to not need to worry about forgetting to check it when you place the trade.

 

I think that's it! Not so much the "Fill outside RTH" (which I had on) but the "OVERNIGHT + DAY" which needs to be clicked on (you'd think they would also have a tick box on those choices... ).
