IB vs AMTD bid-offer spread

Discussion in 'Order Execution' started by billyjoerob, Feb 6, 2015.

  1. On small cap stocks with low volume, AMTD seems to offer better bid ask spreads than IB. It might only be 100 shares on the bid but the spread is definitely better. I wonder if this is because the payment for order flow buyers aren't afraid to buy shares from AMTD traders ie don't have to worry about informed sellers. For instance on RLGT the IB bid - ask is usually 5-8c vs. 3-5c for AMTD. Anybody else notice the same thing.

On IB you may not be subscribed to the exchange giving the best price. Exchanges subscribed to by default changed on the 1st of Jan.
