Hi, I wonder if there is an alternative order management system for swing trading (not scalping) futures to IB TWS, i.e. if I want to use IB as a broker, but don't like their java based platform, what else can I use? I know of course that ButtonTrader and NinjaTrader are alternatives, but I think they are more oriented towards scalpers and they still need TWS to run in the backgroung. Any suggestions?
All TWS frontends need to have TWS running in order to use the API. Here are 2 free ones that have charts and trading. QuoteTracker can be set up to trade through TWS. http://www.quotetracker.com/help/ib.shtml QuoteTrader can be set up to trade through TWS. http://www.esignal.com/quotetrader/
Hi Neutrino, To trade with IB via 3rd party software, you must have TWS in the background - the upside is, you can access your account with multiple apps simultaneously. One app to consider is QuoteTrader. QuoteTrader is free, and with IB, supports chart trading, a DOM, even an FX dealing box. Also, since its integrated with Quote.com, you can quickly access its expanse of global news, market data and research. Since it's free, it's worth seeing if it can complement the other trading and decision support tools you're currently using. I've never used quotetrader, but checked out the site and will give it a try soon. I've used QuoteTracker for the past year and love it
IB bought www.futuretrade.com and promised, on their conference calls, to rewrite the feed handler so it would work on their datafeed. They promised this by the end of the second quarter, this tuesday. IBsoft, handle of one of the IB reps on elitetrader, said a few days ago that this is untrue and that features of futuretrade would be incorporated into the TWS build due this weekend.
As I read it, FutureTrade features will be available to IB institutional clients such as hedge funds, not to retail. But if they release it for retail - oh my - we will all become mini hedge funds
I was talking with MD for PB in IB a few weeks ago and he told me at that time, that they will add good Futuretrade platform option in to TWS.
IB ceo made it crystal clear on qtrly conference call that retail and institutional would get access to the Futuretrade platform.
