IB time conditional orders

Discussion in 'Retail Brokers' started by IBRex&me user, Dec 22, 2020.

  1. could a knowledgeable or experienced IB user tell us how to set time conditional orders. l right click the order line select 'modify, condition' and choose 'time' select my date and choose <= if want the transmitted order be active until date set or => if want the order to be active only after the date set. However the orders don't seem to be effective, it seems the dates set and the before and after <= or => symbols are ineffective. the transmitted order just transmits like a non conditional order. is there something l am missing out?
probably more important does anyone have an idea why the conditions that had been set for GTC orders disappearing, but the 1y order remains without the conditions?
IB cs had no idea on time condition and disappearing conditions as if they were Day orders, Bob and Eugene of the technical department. after about a 60mins 'chat' Eugene hangs up on me.

  2. I use the time condition sometimes, and have not seen this problem. Are you using desktop TWS?

Never encountered this. I send dozens of time conditional orders every day in various forms. Tongue in cheek: Make sure to press "Accept" and not "Dismiss".

  4. l use desktop, classic TWS, having used IB for > decade, l am old school with IB, as don't see advantages with mosiac. l normally just press 'transmit' rather than 'accept'.
1a. l tested again, the 'status' goes from dark blue to green with time set, minutes ahead, whether <= or => is used. the <= means active from transmission to the time set right? => means active from the time set?
1b. l set two times, one to activate and secs later to deactivate, the order activates seconds after the time set, but remains green status even to now, minutes after the time set. as in second attachment
    2. could the disappearing condition, like a day order, be caused by not selecting the box highlighted in red? l thought that if GTC is selected, GTC would also apply to the condition set

time conditions are important and one of the reasons not fully migrating to TW who are in different league for straight forward trading options. help to get this resolved appreciated

If you don't activate the "box highlighted in red" then the order won't activate with "time >= 9:00:44" because that's outside RTH. Just use GTC. I don't quite get your issue, it's simply a bigger than/less than comparison and works as intended. If it was broken, I think others would have similar problems.

  6. been advised me to go on STABLE TWS didnt know I was on beta.

but with time conditions, other than time after , >=, dont work on STABLE either. So exactly same as beta. Was told Time conditions should use the GTD but this only works for single legs. Do time order conditions for combo orders, where <= *time* orders are set , work on your TWS? (If so what version do you use? I am using STABLE now and it doesnt work), so with =< the time condition transmitted order remains active until *time* set is reached.

on nth call and hours later, Got informed that i'd have to open an order ticket and choose DTC for time in force, but the 'End Time' box cannot be selected to input a date and time. Please see attachment. can you or another IB user, try to set up a combo order with the set up so it cancels after a set time. Connor of general support telling me its not working either on his side, so It really seems undoable.
