Today I had two IB outages while I had open orders. Toll Free phone lines were busy. Direct line worked, but was placed on hold for over five minutes, maybe more than 10 minutes. Lucky for me, the system came up and no fiscal damage was done to my P&L. I may reconsider going back to my old broker who I could ALWAYS get through to in a few rings. Commissions are higher, yes. But on a large sized trade I can lose more in one trade than I might save in commissions from IB. Ok, I'm done ranting and raving now .. and done trading for the day as well because I don't trust IB's system reliability today. -- Punter
Yamner. Great outfit. I traded through Mike Gallo. A great guy to work with. Cost $35 a ticket plus a penny a share. Cost more than IB. But if you trade 1000 or more shares for example, how much can you lose on that while you're on hold with IB for 10 minutes waiting to get out of a position? Ouch! Hurts just thinking about that. -- Punter
it's really unacceptable. I thought they had a failover system, so that total outages would not happen.
