I apologize if this is a stupid question, but why does IB not give me option chains for CBOE interest rate index options? I can get the Index data and I'm subscribed to the options exchange data feeds, but I can't seem to actually get to the product... This is not the case for other interest rate options I'm interested in (EDs, for example).
^TYX is an index and has no options that I can find. You may have better luck with options on ^TYX futures but I haven't found those yet either. There are some interest rate hedged EFT's appearing but they also have no options. e.g. HYHG is a high yield corporate bond ETF that is 'interest rate hedged' and yield's north of 4% So far it looks good: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?t=1y&s=HYHG&l=on&z=l&q=l&c=tlt&ql=1&c=^GSPC http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=HYHG+Profile Note that it hedges for interest rate by having short positions in Treasuries.
Oh, those things. Zero volume. Literally. Yet another still-born product from CBOE, just like many other (e.g. "credit options").
TLT ishares 20 year treasury bond etf options http://www.cboe.com/DelayedQuote/QuoteTable.aspx has done thousands of options at multiple strikes.
Thanks for this but if that CBOE page is to be believed it seems like the underlying ETF's bid-ask gets pretty wide which would concern me with what I've heard about IB's auto-liquidation procedures...
