IB is saying I need $28500 in my IRA to open a NQ position? WTF?!

    Anyone else see this?

    trader99,

I have posted this before, but it has been a while. We introduce to Wedbush futures. Wedbush Futures allows those with IRAs to open a futures account with the same margin and risk allowed by individual accounts as long as they are opened through a Self Directed IRA company like Midland IRA. https://www.midlandira.com/
I have done this with my own Roth IRA and it has allowed me to open futures accounts and invest in hedge funds.

Happy to chat with anyone about how this works.

I just asked the same question of Tradovate. They work with both Midland and Millenium and provide the same margins as individual accounts.

IIRC, IB uses a 3x margin requirement for IRA accounts.

Most FCMs allow you to trade Futures on IRAs at regular margins for overnight holding and allow some relief for day trading. However, some FCMs may have restrictions on the total amount lost out of your entire IRA.
