Another IB problem I've had for a while. Attached, I sold 2 e-minis, one was liq from a low purchase over night, but then went short one at 4312.00. Another photo attached, shows mkt droped to 4311, which would represent minor OTE of plus $5.00. [On plus side, the Dly P/L is oddly correct.] But IB shows Unrealized of minus $10,700, because IB showed Avg Price of 2155.95. The gross value of 1 e-mini, approx $21,560, & even with recent volatility, SP does not drop 50% in a few minutes. I sold additional contracts, & inaccurate accounting continue, although often after 2 or 3 contracts, the Avg Price & Unrealized correct. But keeping track of P/L while trading, virtually impossible.
You belong to the almost extinct group of people that take pictures of their monitors. I have not seen any of you for a while, but here you are.
That was from a Notebook I keep on overnight, including broadcasting various prices, every few seconds, to a wireless headset I wear overnight. After years, I'm able to sleep with that. Taking photo seemed to be quickest / easiest, including program that easily deleted my account number, etc. But interesting your comment relates to the medium, rather than the message.
Yes. I had a programmer write the application more than 10 years ago, & have used it almost every night since. I haven't used an alarm clock in more than 30 years, & for probably 10 years, am awake in front of trading computer by 3 am, when European mkts open, although I mostly trade U.S. SP futures, but they are more after after that time.
Now whom is dating themselves ? That slaying goes back to Marshall McLuhan, circa mid-1960s. But in this case, that is NOT the message; IB's software is the impt factor.
More: I would get less sleep, if I did not know where the mkt was during the night. But just hearing, say up/down 5.50 is relatively calming news, rather than up/down 75 handles. Life was so much easier years ago, when most futures were NOT 24/6
