    Hello,

I have a very basic yet successful system, it is based on MACD, MA and price action.
Both indicators i use are just for getting an idea of the market direction, all trades are entered based on price action and order flow.

The only problem i seem to have is that i "forget" to look at the MACD and MA for the market direction and 90% of the losing trades are when my entry is not in the direction the MACD and MA, so i want to fix this by getting an indicator which would color the part of the chart in a certain color if the MACD and MA are giving me a buy or sell market direction, for example if the MACD is negative and the price is trading under the MA in this example i would need the indicator to color the chart so that i know that i must look for a short entry.

I have seen this indicator before but i am not sure how it is called so i am getting over here to get some help if possible.
The platform i am using is Rithmic Trader Pro.
I have added a picture as example.

Does Rithmic Traders have a support group or forum? Like Tradestation or Ninja has pretty big group helping each other or you can hire someone for few bucks as you just want one moving ave crossed the other and MACD Signal line being on same side of zero? I never checked out this software so don't know. Paintbars are usually pretty simple code, couple lines.

  3. imo you're not ready to do trading...create an demo account with $3,000 and get wiped out your account 20 times (but not deliberately though)...then you'll start to look at MACD and MA because by then, you will be forced to look at your indicators.

    No pain, no gain...
    good luck with your trading

Thank you for the very useful information ..
I think i can decide by myself if i am ready for live trading or not.
My trading is consistently profitable, i just want to make it even better. So if this makes me a noob who isn't ready for live trading, well, just lol.

Mr Ruben; several way$ to solve your problem.
[1] take MACD off like i did from your quote.
[2] take MA off[ i like them, IBD uses them] but it seems you ARE confu$ed as to how you get payed-its NOT ON MA, MACD its paid on price..Wisdom is profitable to direct.
I seldom make predictions LOL but i predict[sort of ] if you add another indicator you do WORSE

Even though a human mind can find a moving average helpful; too much clutter on charts is confusing+ counterproductive;hope this helps, it helps me+ i like a 200 dma,IBD does also.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think you misunderstand my problem.
The system i use in combine with these indicators would help my trading results.
In the past i used to trade in the same way without the indicators. The indicators could help me eliminate a part of my losing trades, so if i remove then i am back to where i was before.
I wanna improve my system ...

A pure chartist might come back with getting rid of the 200 dma and unclutter your chart.

Ruben says he has "successful system" but need the code for making Paintbars for Rithmic Trader Pro .

Your get tired looking at huge red/green ribbons? Everyone is different of course, but once you get a programmer, you could have bars have Paintbars that combine the EMA and MACD to make green for up/red for down and yellow for neutral. I think I once had at bottom of chart quarter inch of those huge ribbons then bar Paintbars so from otherside of room I could see what was going on. I had the big ribbons once and had huge headache from the huge colors.

Did you ask Rithmic if they had a list of 3rd part programmers?
