Huge rise in Cancer (CDC data) - mid-April 2021

  1. Did we do anything starting in Feb-Apr of last year that would cause an explosion in cancer rates across society?
Can't imagine what *sacred cow (redacted)* could have caused such an outcome.

People putting off checking "that little bump, that little spot, that little ache" for a year because the hospitals were overfull.

  3. That's a hypothesis. Any evidence?

  4. Anyway, the CDC will fix it, apparently.

Does it seem implausible to you? Millions of people put off routine visits and elective medical services during the pandemic.

    evidence that cancer spreads? uwotm8?

  7. Whoa! Seriously? Your answer to 'Why are cancer rates suddenly going up by nearly 100%? is
    Cancer 'spreads'?
What does that even mean? We're talking about a reasoned, scientific, evidence backed hypothesis that best fits the data. If you have a meaningful answer, then share it by all means. Otherwise, why bother? Just to troll?

Plausibility is not the issue. Direct evidence based on reasoning to make a best fit hypothesis is. Many things are plausible, but that is still short of TRUE. More is required.

well, since your unsourced excel '97 plot does not specify anything and is just titled "variance", one assumes this is mortality not "rate" as you suggest.

oh, wait, it does; you should try reading:

Even if you wanted to get something checked the CDC forbid Doctors to open their offices

  10. Unsourced? That's interesting, cuz right beside where you underlined it says these words:
US Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
Rate simply means number of X per Y, as in
    DEATHS per State by Cause.
    Here is the definition:

Hope this helps. I'll use ELI5 from now on if I know you're in the convo. Sorry for the error.
