How to Prepare for a Trading Competition?

Discussion in 'Trading' started by MayraSilva, Apr 18, 2025.

  1. How can traders effectively prepare for a trading competition to maximize their chances of success? Should they focus more on refining their trading strategies, or is it just as important to build mental discipline and emotional control under pressure? What role does risk management play in such high-stakes environments, and how can participants balance aggressive tactics with the need to protect their capital? Is it beneficial to simulate trading scenarios beforehand, and how much research should one do on the rules and structure of the competition? Should traders rely solely on technical analysis, or would incorporating fundamentals give them an edge? How important is it to stay updated with market news during the competition, and what tools or platforms can help provide a competitive advantage?

you are probably up against teams that have multiple accounts and will be swinging for the fences. your competition wants to win at all cost and will not be employing replicable trading decisions like the real world.

so you will not win the competition - however you will win your confidence that you stuck with your plan and didn't get sucked into a pissing contest.

  3. Trading competitions are dumb. They serve no purpose other than to show off and brag over a meaningless fantasy scenario. So I wouldn't waste my time engaging in such trivial nonsense.

Get real life rich, not some video game rich. Trading is truly a solo game. You're only in competition with yourself. Not to show off, or get employed, or gain followers.

  5. Hello MayraSilva,

    Do not do trading competition.

Trade your own real money or trade SIM paper money by yourself. Do not join chat room or discords.

Ask questions on the ET forum for help.
