Couldn't find a better forum to post this so I'm posting on this one What are some of the top ways to boost your computer performance?I'm running a Core 2 duo 2GHz 3GB RAM Windows Vista HP laptop, I don't want to buy more hardware because I want to boost first by optimizing what I have Tips?
Replace Vista w/XP. Vista is to resource heavy. Or if your trading platform is Java, use Linux (Ubuntu personal favorite)
Defragmen the hard drive. Uninstall any software you don't use. Stop unnecessary services. Use a different computer for Web-browsing and E-mail.
I stopped some services and changed the power setting(I for a dumb reason had it set to power saver), I changed the 3D setting for more performance also. Its way faster now. Any computer experts can tell me if its worth it to buy ReadyBoost?Or perhaps if I'm going to buy hardware at all it might be better to invest in more RAM rather than ReadyBoost?
I think Vista has Readyboost. Some flash drives are much faster than others, Corsair sells some very fast ones....
I just purchased 8GB of RAM and an SSD for an old laptop. It is quite easy to replace both, and it increases the performance significantly... I would also recommend you upgrade to W7, Vista is horrible..
I dont understand why people bitch about Vista so much. Been using it for over 2 years and it works just fine
clean it up ;-)) Dont underestimate the effect of dust (especially fan and heatsink) if you keep it on 24/7 for months, ;-) Tom http://www.fonerbooks.com/lap_fan.htm http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-the-Inside-of-a-Computer etc...
