IB's price alerts, which can be sent via email or sms etc., don't seem to work in after-hours sessions. How does one get live price alerts, specifically for index futures, during these hours?
Tradingview has that function to send to both. But the free version has delayed quotes on futures after a certain timeframe. I think when the regular afterhours market is closed. Because I remember looking at the charts late at night and they didn't match the current time.
Get a new platform....like Multicharts. You can write code to accomplish your alerts in tremendous detail.
I don't use TD Ameritrade for index futures, but I do get real-time index futures data (I didn't request or pay for this). You can setup price alerts in the desktop app and be notified by SMS, but not sure if the desktop app has to be open for the alert to be triggered. From what I understand, you can also setup price alerts in the mobile app and you will get a notification on your mobile device whether or not you have the mobile app open. I haven't used any of that, but it's something you might want to check out.
Good to know, thanks. I just found out from support that IB does do this. In case it helps others, there is a pref to check, 'allow condition to be satisfied outside of regular trading hours' when setting up an alert.
